Everblue by Brenda Pandos My rating: 4 of 5 stars I got a free copy of this book on Amazon. The cover is gorgeous! The story is interesting and I can see how this could possibly become a series of movies. I did not know much about mermaids and mermen, but after reading this book I am interested to know more. If Dogs Could Blog by Pam Torres My rating: 4 of 5 stars I won this book in a Goodreads contest. I entered the contest because the book had to do with dogs and I love dogs. I also was interested to read this book because I hope one day to be able to write books for the same audience. I loved this book. The story was well planned and executed. The characters were well defined and interesting. Each chapter opened the curtain wider to reveal the story. I also loved the illustrations. This book dealt with difficult subjects and did it well. The young readers will enjoy this great story and learn a few thngs at the same time. View all my reviews

The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt My rating: 4 of 5 stars The Goldfinch was not what I was expecting. First of all, I thought (for some reason) that the story was taking place in the 40s or 50s. I was taken by surprise in the first chapter when I realised that this was a modern novel. Donna Tartt's writing style is beautiful. She sometime over-describes scenes, but none-the-less she paints a beautiful story with all shades of the color spectrum. This story is touching, unnerving and often frustrating. I loved all its ups and downs! I encourage anyone who is tempted to stop reading it, to give it a chance and let the story take its fold and bring you to conclusion. View all my reviews

Alphabetique, or Tales of the Lives of the Letters by Molly Peacock My rating: 4 of 5 stars I won a copy of this wonderful book in a Goodreads giveaway. This is such a beautiful little book. Why Quantum Physicists Don't Get Fat by Gregory Kuhn My rating: 2 of 5 stars I received a copy of this book from NetGalley early last year and did not have a chance to read it until now. In all my gullibility, I really thought that this author had something new to offer to the world of dieting. Really this book is all about positive thinking and not so much about Quantum Physics. This book is about common sense dieting and how you can change your way of thinking to make dieting a positive experience. In my opinion, the real meat of the book could have been written in 20 pages… the rest is a lot of writing which did not bring much to the reader. View all my reviews
